Microsoft 365 & Azure for mid-size

A secure, well-governed Microsoft foundation your whole company can run on.

What Microsoft 365 and Azure do for mid-size companies

Microsoft 365 and Azure are the core IT platform for many mid-size Canadian companies. Microsoft 365 covers email, collaboration, and productivity through Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Office apps, along with identity, device, and security services such as Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, and Defender. Azure provides cloud infrastructure and platform services, including virtual machines, storage, networking, databases, backup, monitoring, and identity, that host line-of-business applications, file services, and integrations. Together, they support how your people communicate, share documents, access applications, and work from office, home, and field locations.

Mid-size companies often hit the same problems as headcount and cloud use grow. Teams and SharePoint sites multiply without ownership or lifecycle rules, so documents and permissions sprawl. Identity and access controls drift, with shared accounts, stale guest access, and inconsistent multi-factor authentication. Onboarding and offboarding depend on manual checklists, which leaves access behind when people change roles or leave. Azure resources grow without naming, tagging, or cost-visibility standards, which makes ownership and spending hard to explain. Backup, recovery, and security settings are assumed to be in place but have not been tested. Integrations with accounting, property, logistics, or customer systems break or were never fully connected.

HarjTech supports, administers, integrates, optimizes, and advises on Microsoft 365 and Azure for mid-size Canadian companies. We help IT and business leaders stabilize administration, tighten identity and security controls, clean up Teams and SharePoint sprawl, improve Azure governance and cost visibility, and connect Microsoft 365 and Azure to the line-of-business systems your teams rely on. We document standards and procedures so the platform does not depend on one person, and we provide ongoing advisory as your needs grow. The aim is practical: a secure, well-governed foundation that is easier to operate and easier to explain.

We are considering consolidating onto Microsoft 365 and Azure, or moving workloads to or from Azure. Can you advise?

Yes. HarjTech provides practical advisory on whether consolidation or a move makes sense, and what it would actually involve. We review your current servers, applications, file services, email and collaboration tools, identity and security needs, integrations, and the pain points driving the conversation. Sometimes the right answer is to stay and fix governance, security, and administration. Sometimes consolidation or a move is justified because the current setup is hard to secure, hard to recover, or hard to support as the business grows.

If a move is warranted, we help you define requirements, assess options, understand data and application migration work, plan cutover and rollback considerations, and coordinate with vendors and application owners. We do not push a migration to create project work. Our role is to give you a clear, evidence-based recommendation. Book a scoping call to talk through what is driving the move and what success would look like.

Can HarjTech take over support for our Microsoft 365 and Azure environment from our current provider?

Yes. HarjTech regularly takes over Microsoft platform support where the current provider is slow to respond, documentation is thin, or knowledge sits with one person. We start by reviewing your tenants, subscriptions, users and groups, licences, identity and security settings, Teams and SharePoint structure, Azure resources, backups, monitoring, and integrations, along with any documentation you have. We confirm who your current provider and Microsoft contacts are, and we agree on a handover plan that keeps email, collaboration, and hosted applications running without disruption.

During transition we stabilize the highest-risk items first, such as identity and access, backup and recovery checks, and security settings, and we document standards and procedures so your team is not dependent on any single provider. We coordinate with your outgoing provider where that is helpful, and we set a clear support rhythm for requests, changes, and operational coverage. Book a scoping call and we will map your current platform and propose a handover plan that fits your operations.

How does ongoing support and advisory work after the initial work is done?

Ongoing support is structured around your operations and business calendar, not around ad hoc tickets alone. We agree on how requests are raised, how changes are approved, and who owns user administration, Teams and SharePoint governance, Azure operations, and reporting maintenance. Regular check-ins cover open issues, upcoming changes, security and backup health, and planned work such as new sites, new Azure workloads, or reporting needs. We document standards and keep a log of changes so knowledge stays with your organization, not with one person.

Advisory support gives your IT and business leads a senior sounding board for questions about security, governance, integrations, licensing, and roadmap, without needing a large project each time. We also coordinate with your other providers when issues cross providers. If your needs grow, we can adjust the support model. Book a scoping call and we will outline a support rhythm that fits your team.

How does HarjTech integrate Microsoft 365 and Azure with our line-of-business systems?

We connect Microsoft 365 and Azure to the systems your teams rely on, such as accounting, property management, logistics, customer relationship, and document systems, so data does not live in separate silos. Typical integrations include SharePoint for documents and records, Teams and Outlook for approvals and notifications, Power Automate for routine workflows such as onboarding, approvals, and alerts, Power BI for reporting that combines Microsoft and line-of-business data, and Azure services for secure data flows, APIs, and hosting.

We focus on supported integration patterns, documented data flows, and testing before changes go live, and we avoid fragile spreadsheet bridges where a direct or automated connection is practical. We confirm which system owns each piece of data, how changes are approved, and how errors are handled. A scoping call helps us map your current integrations and identify the connections that will reduce manual work and improve visibility first.

Do you offer fixed-scope work, an advisory retainer, or both?

We offer both, and the scoping call determines which fits. Fixed-scope work suits a defined outcome, such as a platform health review, a security and governance review, Teams and SharePoint cleanup, Azure governance work, or migration planning. The scope, deliverables, and timeline are agreed in advance, and changes are handled through a clear change process. An advisory retainer suits ongoing needs, such as day-to-day administration support, user and access management, small improvements, vendor coordination, and access to senior advice when questions arise.

Many clients start with a fixed-scope assessment or cleanup and then move to a retainer for steady support. Others stay on a retainer from the start because they need reliable coverage without building a large internal team. Investment is confirmed on the scoping call once we understand your scope and support needs. Book a call and we will recommend the model that fits your situation.

Can you help with Azure governance, backup, and cost visibility?

Yes. We review your Azure subscriptions, resource groups, naming and tagging, network and access controls, backup and recovery settings, monitoring and alerting, and cost-visibility practices. Many mid-size environments grow without consistent standards, which makes it hard to tell who owns a resource, what it supports, whether it is backed up, or why spending changed. We identify untagged or orphaned resources, unclear ownership, backup gaps, and monitoring blind spots, and we agree on standards that fit your team.

We then help you apply naming and tagging, ownership, backup and recovery checks, monitoring and alerting, and cost-visibility reporting so leadership can understand spending and risks without needing deep Azure expertise. We document the standards and train your team to maintain them. Book a scoping call and we will review your Azure environment and where governance needs attention.

How do you help with identity, access, and security for Microsoft 365 and Azure?

We review identity and access across Microsoft 365 and Azure and compare it to your policies and your risk expectations. That includes Entra ID configuration, multi-factor authentication coverage, conditional access, privileged roles, guest and external access, device compliance through Intune, and Defender settings. We look for shared accounts, stale access, overly broad administrator roles, and permissions that have drifted over time, and we flag gaps where access is broader than it needs to be or where procedures are undocumented.

We then help you apply least-privilege access, standardize onboarding and offboarding, tighten guest and sharing controls, and document security baselines and review rhythms. We do not replace your security advisor or auditor, and we do not give compliance opinions. We help you operate the platform in a way that is easier to explain and easier to evidence. Book a scoping call and we will review your current identity and security posture.

Who does the work?

Your work is led by HarjTech senior consultants who understand Microsoft 365 and Azure administration, identity and security, collaboration governance, Azure operations, and integration. You will have a named lead who owns the engagement, coordinates tasks, and is accountable for documentation and follow-through. Where specialist support is needed, for example for a complex integration or a specific application migration, HarjTech coordinates that support so you are not left managing multiple providers.

We do not hand your Microsoft platform to an anonymous support queue, and we do not make changes without agreeing on scope and timing with you first. Your IT and business teams stay involved in decisions that affect security, governance, and user experience, and we document standards and procedures so your team can operate the platform confidently. Book a scoping call to meet the approach and discuss who would lead your engagement.
