Microsoft Entra ID

Identity that is secure by default — the right access, for the right people, at the right time.

Microsoft Entra ID is the identity and access control plane for the Microsoft estate — the security surface that matters most for most organizations. Every sign-in, privileged role, guest account, and conditional access decision flows through it. When Entra ID is configured well, access is secure by default: the right people reach the right resources, privileged access is just-in-time, and departed employees lose access on schedule.

HarjTech designs, remediates, and governs Entra ID for enterprise clients. That means Conditional Access built around real risk, Privileged Identity Management that eliminates standing admin access, phishing-resistant MFA, guest access controls, and a joiner-mover-leaver lifecycle that keeps access aligned to actual roles.

The business problem is that identity drift is quiet. Nobody notices when a contractor's access outlives their contract, when a role change leaves old permissions in place, or when a privileged account created for a migration is still active a year later. Each is a small administrative loose end on its own; together, they are the access path an attacker uses, and the finding an auditor writes up. The cost of leaving identity ungoverned is measured twice: once in breach risk, and once in the audit findings and manual remediation cycles that consume security and IT time year after year.

HarjTech treats identity as a control program rather than a set of policies. We start with a baseline — who holds privileged roles, where Conditional Access applies, where MFA is and is not enforced, which guest accounts are live, and how access changes when people join, move, or leave — and then remediate in priority order, with break-glass safeguards and phased rollout so improvements do not lock legitimate users out. Exceptions are approved and time-boxed, and access reviews are put on a cadence the organization can sustain.

Identity is where breaches start and where audits focus. What the client ends up with is an identity estate they can evidence: enforced Conditional Access, just-in-time privileged access, phishing-resistant MFA, governed guest access, and a lifecycle that keeps access matched to current roles — plus review routines that keep it that way after handover.

What does Entra ID cover, and why does it matter so much?

Entra ID is the identity control plane for the entire Microsoft estate: authentication, conditional access, privileged access, guest access, and lifecycle. We assess the identity posture end to end — privileged roles, conditional access coverage, MFA enforcement, guest accounts, and lifecycle gaps — then remediate by priority.

The second angle is that identity is the one control that touches everything else. A SharePoint permission, a Copilot boundary, a device compliance rule, and a DLP policy all assume that the person signing in is who they claim to be and holds only the access their role requires. When that assumption fails, every downstream control inherits the failure.

Consider a departed contractor whose account was never disabled, or an administrator whose standing privileged role was created for a migration and never removed. Either one is a live path into the estate. Expect an assessment that inventories privileged roles, policy coverage, MFA gaps, guest accounts, and lifecycle drift, then a remediation plan ordered by exposure — with the highest-risk items first and break-glass safeguards throughout. Identity is the most attacked surface in the enterprise, so it gets priority in every engagement. Book a scoping call for an identity assessment.

Why HarjTech instead of a Big Four firm for identity work?

You get the same operating model — prime accountability, senior-led delivery, fixed-scope proposals — without the Big Four rate card or the junior-staff lottery. Every engagement is led at the principal level, and the people in your scoping call are the people who do the work.

The second angle is focus. Identity work rewards depth in one platform: the same control can be configured in several ways in Entra ID, and the difference between a policy that protects and a policy that strands users is usually in the details of scoping, exclusions, and rollout. We work in this platform every day, which is why the design accounts for those details from the start.

Consider an organization that has already had a Conditional Access deployment that produced policies but also produced lockouts. Expect senior people who will ask about your risk profile and your user population before they propose a policy, and who will tell you plainly when a control should be staged rather than enforced immediately. We are deliberately focused on the Microsoft stack. Book a scoping call and judge the difference yourself.

How do you manage guest and external access in Entra ID?

Guest access is governed, not banned. B2B policies, sponsorship or approval for guest access, periodic review of guest accounts, and sensitivity labels that limit what guests can reach. External collaboration stays open — with the controls that make it safe.

The second angle is that guest accounts accumulate. Every project, joint venture, audit, and vendor engagement creates guests, and without a review routine they outlive the work that justified them. The risk is not the guest who was invited yesterday; it is the guest invited three years ago whose access was never revisited.

Consider an external auditor who finished their engagement last year, or a partner whose project ended but whose Teams and SharePoint access remains. Expect us to inventory live guest accounts, confirm which are still needed, define sponsorship and approval for new guests, and put periodic review on a cadence so the guest population stays current. Guest accounts are one of the most commonly overlooked exposures in enterprise tenants. Book a scoping call to review your guest access posture.

Do you offer fixed-scope work for identity remediation?

Yes. Diagnostics and assessments are fixed-scope — you know the deliverables and timeline before we start. Remediation packs are fixed-scope with phased deliverables, so budget never drifts silently. Managed services run on a defined monthly arrangement.

The second angle is phasing by risk. Identity remediation does not have to be delivered as one large project: an assessment and baseline can stand alone, privileged-access remediation can follow as its own phase, and MFA, guest, and lifecycle work can be sequenced after that. Each phase closes with evidence — a baseline report, enforced policies, a reduced privileged-role inventory — so the organization can pause or continue with something concrete in hand.

Expect the scoping call to establish which phase matches your situation, and what each phase would deliver. Investment is confirmed on the scoping call, after we understand your identity environment. We do not publish prices, because the same engagement costs different amounts depending on size and complexity.

What does the scoping call cover for an Entra ID engagement?

A working session, not a sales pitch. We map your current identity posture — privileged roles, Conditional Access, MFA, guest access, and lifecycle — then define the outcome you are buying and the fastest path to it. You leave with a clear point of view on your situation, whether or not we work together.

The second angle is that the call is diagnostic, not generic. Identity work depends on your risk profile: an organization with a large contractor population, heavy guest collaboration, and standing privileged access needs a different sequence than an organization whose main gap is MFA enforcement. We come with questions about those specifics, because the right plan follows from them.

Expect to walk through your privileged roles, policy coverage, MFA state, guest population, and lifecycle process, and to leave with a prioritised view of what to fix first. If there is a fit, a fixed-scope proposal follows within days. Book a scoping call and see for yourself.

Can you take over identity administration from our current provider?

Yes — structured transitions are one of our most common engagement starts. We assess the current state, document what exists, stabilize what is fragile, and give you an honest read on what is worth keeping. No rip-and-replace unless rip-and-replace is actually warranted.

The second angle is continuity: a transition should not create a gap in identity protection while the new provider gets up to speed. That means the first work is inventory and stabilization — confirming which Conditional Access policies are enforcing, which privileged roles are standing, and where MFA or lifecycle coverage has holes — before any redesign begins.

Consider a security team mid-way through an audit cycle, or an organization whose previous provider documented little. Expect a documented baseline, a stabilisation pass on the fragile controls, and a candid recommendation on what to keep, what to retune, and what to rebuild. Book a scoping call to discuss your transition.

Can you help us enforce MFA across the organization?

MFA is enforced through Conditional Access with phishing-resistant methods where the risk warrants them — passkeys, Windows Hello, and certificate-based authentication. We plan the rollout so enforcement does not strand users, and we handle the exceptions deliberately.

The second angle is that not all MFA is equal. Push approvals and SMS codes can be intercepted or socially engineered, which is why the rollout prioritises phishing-resistant methods for privileged users, finance staff, and anyone with access to sensitive data, while keeping the experience workable for the wider workforce. The method is matched to the risk, not applied uniformly.

Consider a finance approver targeted by an MFA fatigue attack, or a field team that shares devices and cannot use per-user authenticator enrolment in the usual way. Expect a rollout plan that sequences by risk, communicates what is changing and why, supports users through enrolment, and documents exceptions with an owner and an expiry. MFA enforcement is the highest-return identity control available. Book a scoping call to plan your MFA rollout.

How do you handle privileged access and PIM?

Privileged Identity Management (PIM) is configured so privileged roles are just-in-time, approval-gated, and time-limited — with activation logged and reviewed. Standing admin access is the single largest identity risk in most tenants, and PIM is the control that eliminates it.

The second angle is accountability. PIM is not only about reducing the window of exposure; it is about creating a record. Every activation carries a justification, an approver where one is required, and a time limit, so privileged activity can be reviewed after the fact and the question of who held elevated access, and when, has a factual answer.

Consider an administrator who needs Global Administrator access for a two-hour maintenance window, or a vendor who needs elevated access for a migration weekend. In the standing-access model, both keep that access indefinitely. Expect us to move both to just-in-time activation, remediate standing privileged accounts, and establish break-glass procedures for genuine emergencies. Book a scoping call to assess your privileged access posture.
